If you try, you can hear every word someone says. If you REALLY try, you can even hear what they’re not saying. So, REALLY try.
When you do MORE listening and LESS interrupting, you get less *erupting* and more Understanding. More or less? No, More AND Less.
How to be Understood: be Understanding FIRST.
When you start a sentence three times and someone talks over you EVERY time, what time is it? Time to chat with someone else.
You can listen your way into a heart that talking can’t penetrate. Listen to understand, then speak with understanding.
First, listen respectfully to their point of view. Then, use your earned *respect points* to agree or respectfully disagree.
The person who has not been heard is NOT interested in YOUR words. LISTEN to understand. SHARE your understanding.
If you’re long on listening and short on talking, you’ll be well received anywhere. And that’s the long and short of it.
