Hi, I’m Tony Brigmon. And this is: The Godfather of Returns.
Finally, YES!!!
I called the national customer service number for BestBuy to see if my name was still on the *banned list* for returning too many items. FYI: I was placed on the *banned list* over a year and a half ago without notice.
The national customer service rep told me she could not access this information and that I’d have to discuss this with the store I most frequent (that would be the Arlington BestBuy Store here in Texas).
After a fascinating explanation by phone to a sales cleck at the Arlington Best Buy as to why I needed to discuss this with the manager, they got him on the phone.
I told “Byron” (this may or may not be his first name) my banned-list story and he seemed intrigued.
I asked him if he could look into how one qualifies to end up on such an esteemed list. I mean, how many returns does it take? He said he’d look into it and get back to me.
Thirty minutes later, the phone rang and with more joy, than you can cram into a Jumbo Jar of Crunchy Peanut Butter, Byron said, “Mr. Brigmon, I’ve got some GOOD news for you. You’re OFF the banned list!”
YES!!!
And then as politely and discreetly (hushed tones) as one can muster, he said, “Mr. Brigmon, the way one gets on this list is: not just Best Buy, but several partnering stores have to agree that the SAME person is returning a LOT of stuff.” Ouch.
Apparently, I’m a legend in many circles when it comes to Returns. Okay, just call me the Godfather of Returns.
In my defense, when someone “makes me an offer I can’t refuse”, what am I to do but BUY?
And when my wife (who cannot be named) finds out what I’ve done and begins to ask me “sweat questions”, what am I to do but RETURN?
So, I’m OFF the banned list (YAY) for returns at BestBuy and Black Friday is right around the corner!!! Hmmm …
~~~
Best Practice: To make better decisions, before you move forward, ask yourself, “How will this feel afterward?”
