The Good Life quote below sparked this warm memory. This story happened years ago. It was Valentines Day. I was looking forward to spending it with my forever Valentine, my dear wife.
Suddenly, I had a spontaneous feeling to drop by and visit an elderly couple I knew and sing them a love song for Valentine’s Day. I’ve learned it’s best to act immediately on these spontaneous impressions, so I did. I dropped by their home and told them I’d like to sing them a love song, acapella.
The song that came to mind was, “Have I Told You Lately?” I invited them to hold hands as I sang this version of the song to them.
“Have I told you lately that I love you? Have I told you lately that I care?
Have I said with all my heart and soul how I adore you? Well, darling, I’m telling you now.
“My heart would break if ever I should lose you. I’m no good without you anyhow.
Have I told you lately that I love you? Well, darling, I’m telling you now.”
By the end of the song, they both had tears rolling down their cheeks and so did I. Less than a year after that, her husband passed away.
Fast forward to a few months ago.
A friend and I were visiting this elderly widow. I asked her if she remembered the time I sang that love song to her and her sweetheart. She said, with emotion, “It’s one of my favorite memories.”
It’s true. Like the quotes says below, there are times when you can make someone’s day in a way no one else can: Your way! It will not only make their day in a BIG way but yours as well.
I invite you to be open to any opportunity to use YOUR way to make someone’s day. The feeling is WAY cool.
